21 Elgin Mews, Notting Hill

A quick note on the pronunciation.. its pronounced like L-Gun, not the juniper based spirit. See Audio of "Elgin". And I've been asked "What is a mews"? A Mews is a British name for a row or courtyard of stables and carriage houses. Alas, in Elgin Mews the stables were torn down in the 1960's and built as flats, instead of the tradtional mews housing

This charming ground floor studio flat is located in the middle of the bustling Notting Hill / Ladbroke Grove area of London but due to being tucked away between 2 larger neighbors, is a quiet oasis. Just a short walk to the famous Portobello Market with its shops, restaurants, as well as many of the settings featured in the 90's Rom-Com Notting Hill. It's a quick 3 minute walk to Ladbroke Grove Tube station giving you easy access to the rest of London. Ideal location for those wanting to enjoy the annual Carnival which passes by a mere 50 feet away. The front garden is a lovely place to enjoy morning tea or an afternoon G&T.

The Space

This cozy (300sq ft / 27.8 sq mt), bright, well-equipped, and best of all, quiet studio apartment is ideal for a couple. It features a single step entry, a king-sized wall-bed, and a sofa bed. The kitchen is compact and features a 2 burner hob (cooktop) and oven/microwave, small refrigerator / freezer, and a clothes washer/dryer. (Someday will be a mini dishwasher. It's been plumbed, but we're lacking in counterspace) Small appliances include a kettle, toaster and small US coffee maker. It's fully equipped with all the dishes, utensils, cookware, and glassware you'll need. The bathroom has a shower (no tub). There is a dining table with room for 4 or for 2 with a laptop, keyboard, and mouse.

All bedding and towels are provided as well as shower gel, shampoo, soap, and toilet paper. As an additional courtesy you may find items such as: selection of teas and coffees, herbs, spices, and other condiments, washing powder and washing up liquid. If you have any special requests then please feel free to ask. There is complimentary wi-fi and TV. There is a TV license for the flat so feel free to stream BBC programs via the iPlayer.

The location cannot be beat. 3 minute walk to Ladbroke Grove Tube (Circle Line, Hammersmith & City Line zone 2). 2 minute (or less) walk to the bus stops. 3 minute walk to Sainsbury's or Tesco (supermarkets). 2 minute walk to the wonderful Portobello Road with its many bars, restaurants and shops, as well as street market that operates almost every day. Find all sorts of treasures on one end, fruit and veg on the other!

Recommended mostly for adults and perhaps a child. Sofa bed is big enough for 2 people, the pull-down wall-bed is UK King-Sized. It is physically possible that 4 people *can* be accommodated in a pinch, but they need to be very friendly. Comfort not guaranteed in that case. No pets, smoking, or parties, use the nearby pubs! If you must smoke, stick to the garden and be courteous, it's a shared outdoor space.

Sleeping: 1 pull out sofa bed, 1 pulldown wall bed
